Abstract: Complex oxide heterostructures exhibit many interesting phenomena [1] that can be controlled on the nanoscale using a conductive atomic force microscope (c-AFM) lithography technique [2]. We create chiral 1D superlattices at the LaAlO₃/SrTiO₃ interface by adding a periodic modulation to an electron waveguide device. These nanostructures support quantized ballistic transport of electrons and electron pairs, as well as oscillatory transport behavior indicating an engineered spin orbit interaction [3]. These experiments represent a first step toward engineering properties in 1D quantum wires and can be regarded as a building block for more complex quantum systems.
