We challenge the fundamental limits of quantum light-matter interactions and optical field confinement, down to the scale of a single atom. We observe several levels of quantum and non-local effects in heterostructures.
We will also discuss novel types of (hybrid) heterostructure photodetectors for visible and infrared frequencies, as well as the effects of exciton dissociation on photodetection performances. Finally, interlayer exciton dynamics in TMD heterostructures are being addressed.
