mechanisms at the quantum level. This presentation discusses the significance of asymmetry in these distributions, a phenomenon that reveals fundamental aspects of quantum interference.
In this presentation we explore numerical solutions of the Time-Dependent Schrodinger Equation (TDSE) which hint at one method in which asymmetry may be induced,
and potentially controlled. Specifically, the results display how tuning the non-perturbative intensity parameter z = U_p/ω (where U_p is the pondermotive energy and ω is laser frequency) and may prescribe asymmetry in the angular distributions where notable yield is observed. This is achieved through the opening of two or more channels whose interference patterns are angle dependent, therefore disrupting any symmetries previously present. Tuning of these patterns may allow for significant control over both the spectral as well as spatial distributions of photoelectrons, furthering our ability to control, image, and understand ultrafast processes.
