G02.00001: Probing Neutrino Oscillation Physics with the NOvA Experiment Invited Speaker: Craig Group The NOvA experiment is a long-baseline accelerator-based neutrino oscillation experiment that uses a beam of neutrinos and two detectors separated by an 810 km baseline to observe muon neutrino disappearance and electron neutrino appearance. Results from this experiment have the potential to answer some of the exciting remaining questions in neutrino physics: the mass hierarchy, the theta-23 octant, and CP violation in the neutrino sector. This talk will introduce these questions, cover current NOvA oscillation results, and explain the potential reach for the experiment with its full data set. |

G02.00002: Science and Status of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) Invited Speaker: Thomas Kutter The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) has a broad physics program, which includes measuring the CP violating phase, determining the neutrino mass hierarchy and performing precision tests of the three-flavor paradigm in long-baseline neutrino oscillations by means of making measurements of neutrino oscillation parameters. Other science goals are the detection of neutrinos from core-collapse supernovae and a search for nucleon decay. The experiment will employ a high-power broadband neutrino beam from Fermilab, which will pass through a high precision near detector and be directed towards the 1300 km distant Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota. The underground laboratory will house four liquid argon (LAr) time projection chambers, each with a fiducial mass of 10 kt of LAr. We present an overview of the DUNE experiment, its status including that of two large scale LAr prototypes at CERN, and the experiment’s physics potential. |

G02.00003: The Belle II Experiment at KEK Invited Speaker: Leo Eric Piilonen I describe the second-generation B-factory detector, Belle II, and accelerator, SuperKEKB, that have started operating at the KEK laboratory in Japan. I will present the status of the experiment, including early physics results from the run in 2018, and prospects for the runs in 2019 and beyond. |

G02.00004: Status and Prospects from the Muon g-2 Experiment Invited Speaker: Renee Fatemi Precision measurements of the static properties of leptons and baryons are increasingly important in an era where signatures of beyond the Standard Model (SM) physics remain conspicuously absent from experiments operating at the energy frontier. The anomalous magnetic moment of the muon aμ= (g-2)/2 can be calculated and measured to extraordinary precision, permitting a unique sensitivity to contributions from new particles and forces. To date, the most precise measurement of aμ, made by the E821 experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), disagrees with the SM calculation by more than three standard deviations. This fact has motivated the development of two new and complementary muon g-2 experiments, which are sited at Fermilab and J-PARC. Similarly, the theoretical community has made significant progress towards its goal of reducing the error on the SM prediction for aμ by at least a factor of two. Fermilab experiment E989 has just completed the first of several running periods, collecting a dataset that is comparable in sensitivity to the previous BNL experiment. The ultimate goal is to collect enough data to measure aμ to 0.14 parts per million (ppm), a factor of four improvement compared to E821. The status of the analysis from the first run and a report from the front lines of the second run will be discussed. |
