T06.00002: Science as a common language for building bridges Invited Speaker: Raïssa Malu In the rapidly evolving landscape of global challenges, the role of science in bridging communities and fostering inclusive development is more critical than ever. This presentation, titled "Science as a Common Language for Building Bridges," delves into the pioneering efforts of the non-profit organization, Investing In People, in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the broader Central African region. For over a decade, this organization has been instrumental in kindling the flames of scientific curiosity and technological savvy among youth and the general public, primarily through its flagship initiative, the Science and Technology Week. The 11th edition of this event, themed "Science as a Common Language, Here and There," encapsulates the essence of our mission – to forge connections between diverse scientific and citizen communities and harness science and technology as pivotal tools for addressing global challenges. |

T06.00003: Why Physics Matters Invited Speaker: Christine Darve Physics Matters is a live and open series of colloquia prepared by the Forum on International Physics (FIP) dedicated to advancing the knowledge of physics and its diffusion, by fostering cooperation and communication among physicists accross all countries in the world. It started as an online colloquia series for students and early career scientists in developing countries with a focus on supporting the SESAME light source in Jordan. Since December 2020, more than 39 events have taken place, gathering scientists from more than 34 countries, unleashing the capacity for discovering and engaging our audience to share their insights with world renowned experts. |

T06.00004: Quark, Camera, Action! Bringing Science Communication to Social Media Invited Speaker: Clara Nellist An essential component of the long-term success of scientific research is communicating the process and results with a diverse audience. With false information travelling quickly in our digital age, it is particularly crucial in the field of science communication to educate and inform accurately; but it's equally important to have fun and show the human side of our research. Drawing on my experience as both a particle physicist on the ATLAS experiment, and also as a science communicator for over a decade, I'll present the unique challenges and opportunities that come with conveying complex scientific ideas to a broader audience in an engaging way. In this talk, I will explore the deeper motivations behind effective science communication and the different methodologies employed, with a specific focus on using online platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Each platform offers its own set of advantages for making particle physics more accessible, as well as obstacles in the form of misinformation and conspiracy theories. As we look towards the future and the advent of next-generation experiments, the task of clear and engaging communication becomes ever more important. |

T06.00005: CERN 70th anniversary and beyond… Invited Speaker: Luciano Musa Since its establishment in 1954, CERN has played a pivotal role in expanding the frontiers of scientific knowledge and technological innovation in the field of particle physics. Originating from a vision of unity and collaboration in the aftermath of World War II, CERN has grown into a global scientific community, comprising 23 Member States, 10 Associate Member States, and a diverse international community of over 17,000 individuals from more than 110 nationalities. As we celebrate CERN's 70th anniversary, we reflect on our legacy of scientific milestones and our commitment to international cooperation, openness in research, and education in STEM fields. This year's celebrations, under the theme "CERN at 70: Inspiring the Future", are also an opportunity to look forward with anticipation to future horizons in scientific exploration, aiming toward the next 70 years and beyond, to a future where we can explore further into the universe's unresolved mysteries. The anniversary program features a series of events aligned with four main themes: 'Pushing the Frontiers of Science', 'The Virtuous Circle of Science and Technology', 'Uniting Nations through Science', and 'Open Science, Training, and Education'. These events aim to make the fascinating world of particle physics accessible to everyone. In lieu of personal attendance, we will present a 15-minute video highlighting CERN's main scientific and technological milestones over the past 70 years, a message from CERN's Director General on the significance of the anniversary, and my own reflections on the celebrations |
