Proof of concept high energy physics application of superconducting radio frequency cavities for quantum computation: neutrino oscillation in free space and matter*

We present results of a proof of concept application of superconducting radio frequency cavities for quantum computation in simulation in a high energy physics application, namely the oscillation of neutrino flavors in free space and matter. Using a simulation of the interaction of a transmon with the cavity, we design control pulses for the simulation of flavor oscillation and compare different techniques for the same, including decomposition into elementary SNAP and displacement gates and direct design of control pulses via gradient descent.
