fatality counts from regions all over the world. The aggregated data sets
often vary between data sources, an important point for any analysis.
In this talk the COVID-19 case and fatality counts from the
John Hopkins University (JHU) and the European Center for Disease
Control (ECDC) are compared for a selection of regions. Certain
differences are visible for some countries, which are discussed.
A known problem is the presumably vast undercounting of case counts. As an
alternativ analysis source one can study fatality counts, for which
the underounting problem is less severe. We find that the case and
fatality counts scale with respect to each other for a range of
countries. The accuracy of the case- and death count scaling is
discussed within the phase space representation of the underlying
dynamical system, the SIR model.
