DPOLY Short Course: Macromolecular Engineering of Formulations

The short course focuses on progress, challenges, and opportunities underlying macromolecules engineering of formulations used as foods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, inks, paints, and coatings. The workshop discusses the concepts drawn from fundamental and applied polymer science that enable the use of macromolecules as rheology modifiers (tackifiers, thickeners), film or fiber formers, stabilizers, emulsifiers, structuring agents, delivery systems, and for modifying adhesion, permeability, water or retention. As instructors, experts from academia, industry, and government agencies will highlight how concepts, experiments, and simulations based on fundamental polymer physics drive applied research on multicomponent formulations. The short course aims to bring together a community of established and emerging researchers, and foster academia-industry collaboration on solving open questions to drive progress in formulation science and engineering.
