Following spin fluctuations in La2-xSrxCuO4 across Tc and T**

Understanding the evolution of magnetic correlations across the pseudogap as a function of temperature and chemical substitution in cuprates constitutes an important challenge. Inelastic neutron scattering is the natural technique for such studies, and recent improvements in capabilities allow for an enhanced ability to distinguish spin fluctuations from phonons. To this end, we have studied large single-crystal samples of La2-xSrxCuO4 with x=0.17 and 0.21, bracketing the critical concentration x_c~0.19, on the time-of-flight spectrometer SEQUOIA at the SNS. Measurements were done in the rotating-crystal mode, providing four-dimensional data in the energy-momentum phase space, and at temperatures well below Tc, above Tc, and at 300 K. The results of a detailed analysis will be presented.
