We employed the commercial chip-calorimeter Flash DSC 1 to measure the temperature dependence of crystallization rates of enantiomeric Poly(lactic acid) blends with various molecular weights. [1,2] The results show that crystallization kinetics of stereocomplex crystals and homo-crystals are competitive, and separately dominant at low and high molecular weights. In the middle molecular weights, the mixture of two crystals can be identified with the help of IR spectroscopy. Furthermore, we confirmed that the hydrogen bonding interactions are formed more easily in low molecular weight blends,[3]inducing significantly stereocomplex crystal nucleation.
