This talk focuses on the challenges faced by microwave engineering in the support of quantum computers employing hundreds of superconducting qubits. These machines are just over the horizon as several groups have already demonstrated systems employing 10 or more qubits Some of the challenges faced in the engineering of these systems include: dense signal delivery and conditioning, development of wide-band quantum limited amplifiers, low loss non-reciprocal circuits, and shielding. These subsystems must be easily manufactured, robust, and exist within dilution refrigerators with stringent limits on internal volume and cooling capacities measured in the tens of microwatts.
