Affirming Belonging: Progress toward a Human Relations Code and Bias Incident Policy*

In our ongoing efforts to foster and sustain an inclusive community, we affirm that APS DPP should be a welcoming space for all members.  In support of that mission, APS DPP is working to evolve from the current Code of Conduct for meetings to a Human Relations Code (HRC) and Bias Incident Policy (BIP) that will cover all members at all times, to improve the institutional climate at each workplace associated with the DPP community. We present our vision for a dialogue with the DPP community, centered on Restorative Justice and its application to the HRC/BIP. We center on a systemic approach, employing the Healthy to Innovative (HTI) Framework as the foundation for three major strategic action areas: the APS DPP DEIA Organizing Collective Committee's Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) Toolkit, the Diamond Model implementation, and the Queryable Equity Database (QED). We previously contracted academic consultants to facilitate our grounding in Restorative Justice methodology to devise an HRC/BIP for DPP with a Restorative Justice mechanism and Conflict Mediation scaffolding.  For references and more information, see: https://engage.aps.org/dpp/programs/dei-organizing-collective
