The Apollon Laser Facility (https://apollonlaserfacility.cnrs.fr/) and the Laboratoire pour l'Utilisation des Lasers Intenses (LULI, https://luli.cnrs.fr/)
$\unit[15]{fs}$ and subsequently focusing these laser pulses using an $f_{\#}=2.5$ optic at a repetition rate of one shot per minute [1]. Currently, the facility is able to achieve at least
$\unit[3]{PW}$ [2]. Apollon is particularly well-suited for studying Strong-Field QED [3,4] as: a) the facility will provide space for a permanently installed SFQED beamline that will be developed over multiple campaigns; and b) an e-beam transport will allow the characterization of the highly fluctuating e-beam parameters before the interaction with the high-intensity laser.
Besides reviewing planned SFQED experiments and comparing them to other approaches such as E-320 and LUXE [5,6], we will also discuss experiments on hot-dense matter that are
using isochoric heating with the goal of measuring opacities of mid-Z elements in the context of stellar interiors. Additionally, we will review recent work conducted on proton [7] and neutron [8] generation in different configurations, including pulses having high temporal contrast or compressed pulse duration, paving the way for future applications of these beams [9].
