Finite Larmor Radius Effects on the Stepped Pressure Profile Equilibria associated with Force Free State in Tokamak Plasmas

A multiple interface variational model comprising multiple Taylor-relaxed plasma regions separated by ideal MHD barriers was first developed to describe a minimum energy state, where each of which is separated by an ideal MHD barriers of zero width and, furthermore, these equilibria exhibit many of the same qualities observed in the H-mode discharges [1]. In the present presentation, we will show that the stepped profiles give rise to the Finite Larmor Radius (FLR) effects in the steep region and the associated E x B current induced by the resulting radial electric field results to a force free equilibrium state in the core as well as at the pedestal for the H-mode plasma [2].
