CUPID is under development at the 250 kg level, but is already looking to the next tonne stage: CUPID-1T. With reasonably achievable advancements in sensor technology and background reduction, CUPID-1T can increase the sensitivity by at least another order of magnitude, exploring the large fraction of the parameter space that corresponds to the neutrino mass Normal Ordering. Scaling the next generation of crystalline detectors to this size requires tens of thousands of channels, as well as advancements in background rejection. I will present a series of projects underway that will provide advancements in background reduction, cryogenic readout, and physics searches beyond 0νββ, all moving toward the next-to-next generation CUPID-1T detector.
