Geophysical Fluids on Logarithmic Lattices*

Fluid dynamics for geophysics and astrophysics requires the modelling of nonlinear process over a vast range of spatial and temporal scales. Current (and future!) computational methods are not capable of modelling the range of scales required, so some compromises are required. In this talk I will describe using logarithmic lattices for two problems of geophysical interest, Rayleigh-Benard convection and double-diffusive convection in the fingering regime.
