We propose to use the combination of phase-averaged and phased-resolved methods to reconstruct the wave field. The wave field is simulated using the higher-order spectral (HOS) method, and the adjoint method is employed for the reconstruction. In this study, the reconstruction is conducted to obtain the optimal initial condition that minimizes the discrepancy between measured and simulated data. Spectral and temporal information of the wave field aims to capture the amplitude and phase of different wave components, respectively. We show that this new method could increase the predictable region of a wave field.
