Otto Laporte Lecture: Of the Surface of Things

Under the aegis of Wallace Stevens (whose poem I will not comment on, it was enough to borrow his title), I will discuss a few examples of our research on interfaces where scaling analysis is particulary relevant (at least, in my opinion) to capture the underlying physics.
