Porgess toward quantum information processing with Dipole-phonon interaction in trapped ions*

Dipole-phonon quantum logic (DPQL) enables new methods for state preparation, measurement, and control of quantum information in molecular ion qubits [1]. We recently demonstrated an experimental implementation of DPQL using a trapped calcium monoxide and calcium ion chain at room temperature [2]. In two hours of data collection, we observed a DPQL signal rising clearly above the characterized noise level, with a statistical significance lower bound of 4.1σ. This poster will present our ongoing efforts to identify additional DPQL signals and improve detection reliability. Currently, the observation rate is constrained by the low thermal population in the molecular ground rotational state. To address this limitation, we will also discuss our design for a future cryogenic system aimed at enhancing quantum information processing with DPQL.
