Rydberg atom electric field sensors are projected to enable novel capabilities for communications and sensing due to their small size, high sensitivity, and broad tunability. These sensors could be an enabling technology in niche application spaces. However, not much emphasis has been placed on the deployment capability of these sensors. We will discuss the overall design and component-level trades we considered for our fieldable sensor. We will also quantitatively compare the modeled performance of these sensors to traditional receiver systems as well as size, weight, and power consumption.
