Measurement of CP-violating phase in bottom baryon decays

We propose a new approach to measure CP violation exclusively in bottom baryon decays. For our purpose, we consider Ξ^-_b → Σ^′0 (1385) π^- and Ξ^-_b → Σ^′- (1385) π⁰ decays and the subsequent strong decays of Σ^'-→ Λπ^- and Σ^'0→ Λπ⁰ that leads to a common Λπ⁰π^- final state. Under isospin symmetry, we illustrarte the implicit interference between Ξ^-_b → Σ^′0 (→Λπ⁰) π^-  and Ξ^-_b → Σ^′-(→Λπ^- ) π⁰ decays due to Bose correlations among the pions. The inference of CP violation comes from a study of the correlation plots for the mode and its CP conjugate that shows marked difference. We also demonstrate a method to extract the CKM angle α purely in terms of experimental observables. A modification of our proposal using Ξ^-_b → Ξ^′0 π⁰ π^- is particularly promising for extracting the CKM angle γ.
