Proposed Measurement of the Proton Axial Vector Form Factor*

We have developed a concept for an experiment to perform a fully kinematically constrained measurement of the proton axial vector form factor using the 2.2 GeV polarized electron beam from CEBAF at Jefferson Lab. The measurement uses the parity violating process e^-+p→ν_e+n where the final state neutron is detected with a high resolution time-of-flight spectrometer. We also incorporate an effective electron and pion veto using a large acceptance magnetic spectrometer. The projected statistical accuracy for the weak process cross section at momentum transfer of 1~GeV²/c2² is ≈25%. We will present results of a detailed simulation of signal and backgrounds.
