Two-Pion Bose-Einstein correlation measurements with CLAS detector*

We conducted a study on Bose-Einstein correlations using positive pions generated in Deep Inelastic Scattering events. The data were collected from experiments conducted at Jefferson Lab, VA. Various targets, such as C, Fe, and Pb, were utilized, each exposed to a 5.014 GeV electron beam. By comparing correlated π⁺ pairs from the same events to uncorrelated pairs, we extracted information about the space-time structure and dynamics of the source of the produced pions. The primary objective was to measure the size and degree of coherence of the π⁺ production source, employing both one- and two-dimensional approaches. Our findings revealed no significant differences in the size of the source across nuclear targets, while a clear elongation of the source was observed for all nuclear targets, with a dependence on the nuclear number, A.
