Development of Observation Planning and Scheduling Software In Support of Neutrino Detection Experiments*

Astrophysical cosmic-ray accelerators capable of reaching ultra-high energies (UHEs) may produce very-high energy (VHE) neutrinos due to interactions of the cosmic rays within their sources or their surrounding environments. Recent reports from the IceCube Observatory of neutrino detections tentatively associated with astrophysical sources have spurred efforts to develop observational campaigns for planned and upcoming VHE and UHE neutrino experiments. Of particular interest are target-of-opportunity (ToO) campaigns to follow-up transient alerts which for rapid response will be crucial. In support of these efforts, we have developed a python-based software package to aid in planning observations for a given experimental configuration. The software package features listeners for developing databases of transient alerts acquired from global transient networks (e.g., GCN, TNS, etc.) as well as support for user-supplied monitored source lists. The package also provides tools for developing observing schedules based on experimental parameters and a prioritization scheme selected by the user. In for the software to be as widely accessible as possible, the package provides both command-line and user interfaces. In this talk, we will demonstrate the features and capabilities of this software by providing examples for the optical Cherenkov telescope onboard the balloon-borne EUSO-SPB2 experiment.
