We will begin with an overview of the SM and present its great success in explaining all data collected so far by several experiments and in particular by CMS and ATLAs experiments at the LHC. Moreover, the LHC and its future High Luminosity option will provide precise measurements of several observables that can be used to test the consistency of the SM and could point toward New Physics and constrain the parameters of several extensions of the SM. At the conclusion, we will present some examples of these SM extensions.
