Measurement of the Isospin Depdendence of the EMC Effect via Inclusive Electron Scattering*

The modification of inelastic structure functions in nuclei (the EMC Effect) remains a subject of significant investigation after more than 40 years since its discovery. Some explanations of the origin of the EMC Effect result in a difference in the modification of up and down quark distributions in non-isoscalar nuclei.  While there is not yet any direct experimental evidence to verify this suggestion, there are several techniques that may be used to study the flavor dependence of the EMC Effect, including parity violating deep inelastic scattering and pion Drell-Yan reactions.  This talk will focus on the possibility of accessing the flavor dependence of the EMC Effect via inclusive electron scattering with nuclei at approximately fixed A, while varying N/Z.  Such measurements were made recently in experimental Hall C at Jefferson Lab as part of experiment E12-10-008.  The analysis status of the experiment and prelimary results will be discussed.
