U05.00001: New tests of Dark Matter - from small scale experiments to cosmology Invited Speaker: Anson Hook This talk will cover the recent developments in the search for light dark matter. It is only recently that the plethora of extremely precise experiments have receached the level of precision need to place leading constraints on motivated dark matter models. Extremely precise AMO experiments, such as clocks, now place the leading constraints on fuzzy dark matter interactions. Other precision experiments such as LIGO place leading constraints on dark photon dark matter. In this talk, we discuss and review several of these recently proposed experiments. |

U05.00002: Developments in sub-GeV dark matter direct detection: Nanomaterials and Molecules Invited Speaker: Carlos Blanco As the WIMP draws under increasing tension thanks to the ever-increasing sensitivity of direct detection experiments, the majority of dark matter parameter space outside of the weak scale remains unexplored. Molecular and nano-scale systems are particularly well-suited to look for Sub-GeV DM since their eV-scale electronic transitions may be excited through light dark matter interactions. Here, I will discuss the importance of molecular and mesoscopic systems as new directions in the direct detection of dark matter, focusing on the use of quantum dots (QDs) and organic crystals as detector targets. I will show that QDs present a particularly interesting target with inherently low-background signals and low-cost scalability. I will present the molecular Migdal effect as a new directional method to detect DM nuclear recoils using molecular systems. Finally, I will discuss the potential synergy between nanomaterials and molecules as well as applications of these formalisms for indirect detection. |

U05.00003: Results from the LZ Dark Matter Search Invited Speaker: Aaron Manalaysay The identity of dark matter presents one of the most fundamental mysteries in physics today. An answer to this question will shed light on a wealth of physics beyond the Standard Model, and will have a fundamental impact on our understanding of the universe from the smallest to the largest scales. A global experimental effort has been ongoing for almost forty years to directly detect dark matter in the laboratory, and devices utilizing liquid xenon (LXe) have emerged as the leading technology in this search. LUX-ZEPLIN is the largest and most sensitive LXe dark-matter experiment to ever be constructed, and has been many years in the making. Completing the final construction and commissioning tasks in the depths of the COVID lockdown, LZ turned on at the end of 2021, releasing its first science results in July of 2022. An exciting glimpse of what is yet to come, I will present these first data and what they tell us about dark matter so far. |
