R02.00001: Beyond the Standard Model hints in b-hadron decays Invited Speaker: Matthew Rudolph Recent hints of lepton flavor non-universality in b-hadron decays are currently some of the most promising signs for new physics beyond the Standard Model. Multiple experiments seem to find that electrons, muons, and tau leptons are not different only because of their masses. I will review the experimental situation of these “b-anomalies”, including recent developments. These hints motivate ongoing searches for direct lepton flavor violation, which is often predicted by theoretical models seeking to explain the anomalies. In the near future, further results from LHCb, Belle II, and other experiments should be able to confirm or rule out whether we are really seeing the signs of new physics. [Preview Abstract] |

R02.00002: Measurements of Standard Model parameters in b and c decays Invited Speaker: Jake Bennett Recent experimental results have continued to improve our knowledge of Standard Model (SM) parameters, notably the magnitudes and phases of the quark mixing (CKM) matrix. Precise measurements of this type may reveal the presence of physics beyond the SM, since new particles and interactions can contribute to decay processes at the loop level and have a measurable affect on decay rates, mixing, and CP violation. I will review the status of measurements of standard model parameters using decays of hadrons containing beauty and charm quarks, with a particular focus on recent measurements from the B-factories and some prospects for future experiments.
