X02.00001: Signatures of modified gravity in black hole quasi-normal modes Invited Speaker: Oliver James Tattersall I will be discussing advances made in black hole perturbation theory in modified theories of gravity, including searching for signatures of modified gravity in black hole quasi-normal modes. I will discuss the potential signatures in various scalar-tensor and vector-tensor theories of gravity, and how even theories that admit 'no-hair theorems' can display interesting phenomena. |

X02.00002: Compact binary systems in modified gravities and EOB theory Invited Speaker: Felix Julie I will show how to derive analytical gravitational waveforms associated to the coalescence of hairy binary black holes, by generalizing the effective-one-body (EOB) formalism to the example of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theories. X02.00003: Progress in theoretical gravitational-wave astronomy of neutron star binaries Invited Speaker: Tanja Hinderer The gravitational waves from a binary inspiral encode information about the internal structure of compact objects. For neutron stars this offers a unique possibility for advancing our understanding matter and fundamental interactions in unexplored regimes. I will discuss the imprints of an object’s internal structure, and in particular neutron star matter, on the gravitational waves generated during an inspiral, recent progress in analytically modeling these effects, and what we have learned from GW170817 when also considering joint information from the electromagnetic counterparts. Finally I will outline future prospects and challenges. |
