Observation of lepton number violation (LNV) or lepton flavor violation (LFV) in the charged lepton sector would completely change our understanding of Nature and herald a new era of discoveries in elementary particle physics. The B-factory and LHC experiments are expected to discover LNV/LFV as an answer to the fundamental questions relating to the unsolved mysteries of particle physics. Now is a very interesting era in the searches for LNV/LFV in decays of the tau lepton, as the current limits will improve by more than an order of magnitude in the next decade at the next generation B-Factories. The upgraded LHC experiments are unique test beds for searches of LFV in decays of the Higgs boson and/or Z(') boson. I review the current status and future prospects of these searches in this talk.
