X2.00002: Recent Results on W and Z Physics at the LHC and Tevatron Invited Speaker: Ping Tan At the hadron colliders such as the LHC or Tevatron, production of W and Z bosons and their associated production with jets and other vector bosons offer a unique window to conduct stringent tests of theoretical predictions based on the standard model (SM) and enable indirect searches for beyond-the-SM (BSM) physics. With large samples of W and Z events collected at the LHC and Tevatron experiments, many of these processes have been studied at an unprecedented precision. These measurements provide valuable inputs to fundamental parameters in the SM, improve understanding of the proton structure functions, test various theoretical predictions up to next-to-next-leading order, and constrain BSM physics. In this talk, latest results from the LHC and Tevatron experiments are reviewed. [Preview Abstract] |

X2.00003: Event Generators for Particle Physics Invited Speaker: Konstantin Matchev I will review recent progress in developing and automating the basic set of simulation tools in high energy particle physics, including programs which are capable of automatic implementation of new physics models and generating the corresponding Feynman rules, various matrix element calculators, and event generators producing both parton-level and fully hadronized/showerted Monte Carlo event samples. I will also discuss methods for speeding up the generation of new physics samples, which could be useful in the upcoming new physics searches at the LHC. [Preview Abstract] |
