W3C.00001: Preparing yourself for careers in academia and applying to graduate school Invited Speaker: Monika Schleier-Smith This session is designed to help you prepare your applications to graduate schools and prepare for careers in academia. We will start by describing the academic career, what it entails in a day-to-day basis and describe the full range of academic institutions. We will provide insights into how mentoring and research form a powerful preparation strategy for all careers paths and how these aid in graduate school and obtaining academic positions. Also, we will discuss how to build your package for graduate applications, focusing on what departments look for in admissions to their graduate school. We will end by touching on how building a network will help you in career development. [Preview Abstract] |
