E10.00001: Searching for Dark Matter with Gamma Rays Invited Speaker: Andrea Albert There is overwhelming evidence that non-baryonic dark matter constitutes about 27\% of the energy density of the Universe. Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) are promising dark matter candidates that may produce gamma rays via annihilation or decay in the Universe. These gamma rays would be detected by space-based detectors like the Fermi Large Area Telescope or by ground-based arrays like VERITAS and H.E.S.S. A detection of gamma rays from WIMPs would not only confirm the existence of dark matter through a non-gravitational force, but also indicate the existence of physics beyond the Standard Model. I will present recent results from WIMP searches including looking for gamma-ray spectral lines and gamma-ray excesses in areas of large dark matter concentration like the Galactic center and dwarf spheroidal galaxies. We have entered an exciting era of dark matter searches since we are becoming sensitive to the natural cross section for WIMPs in some mass ranges and annihilation channels. [Preview Abstract] |

E10.00002: Latest results from the AMS experiment on the International Space Station Invited Speaker: Paolo Zuccon The AMS measurements of the cosmic ray fluxes are revealing structures in the cosmic positron and electron energy spectra. Different interpretations on the origin of this spectral features have been advanced, one the of the most appealing is that they could originate from Dark Matter decay or annihilation. The most recent AMS results will be presented and the AMS capability in discriminating different models, by means of high statistic measurements of electron, positron and anti-proton fluxes will be discussed. E10.00003: Dark Matter Particle Physics in Dwarf Galaxies Invited Speaker: Alex Geringer-Sameth Dark matter's non-gravitational interactions have profound implications for particle physics beyond the Standard Model. Searches for gamma-ray emission from Milky Way dwarf galaxies are among our most sensitive probes of dark matter annihilation. I will discuss powerful methods that have been developed to search for a signal as well as how uncertainties in the dark matter content of dwarf galaxies impact the particle physics conclusions. Finally, I will discuss the implications of the recent discovery of many new dwarfs in the Dark Energy Survey, including Reticulum 2. [Preview Abstract] |
