In a previous study presented at the 2009 Frontiers in Education conference, “A New Set of Learner Classifications for CSET”, a new set of learning types were postulated and found to indicate a difference in the way those learner types handle concepts in physics. This poster will discuss a proposed research project designed to further examine these learner types, called “Connectors”, “Mavens”, and “Salespeople”. In the proposed study, interviews will be conducted with students in an introductory physics class to give insight into these learner types, elaborate upon the differences in learning characteristics of the types, illuminate upon the importance of self-identification from the previous study, and open new avenues of research in this area.
