C01.00001: Trends in Physics Higher Education and Careers Invited Speaker: Brad Conrad Physics and astronomy have a long history of advancing the broader Physical Sciences. As departments aim to build thriving programs, being aware of the changing landscape of higher education and current trends within graduate and undergraduate programs is vital to best serve students while preparing them for a broad array of career outcomes. Recent trends in higher education, reports on physics and astronomy students, department climate data, and society initiatives will be discussed. This talk aims to connect a program’s educational outcomes, student objectives, and department culture while providing pragmatic resources for student leaders and faculty alike. [Preview Abstract] |
