Upgrade of the Baylor Hadron Calorimeter Test Stand*

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN is the most powerful particle collider in the world, and it is used to test the accuracy of the Standard Model and to look for evidence of theories Beyond the Standard Model (BSM), such as supersymmetry, extra dimensions etc. It involves four major experiments/detectors, one of which is the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS). The High Energy Physics group at Baylor University is part of the CMS collaboration, and its members have the unique of opportunity of assembling the only test stand of the Hadronic Calorimeter (HCAL) CMS subdetector of its kind in the world. The experiments they perform help calibrate the HCAL detector at CERN and test the behaviour of its electronics and proposed new components, without interrupting LHC operations and at minimal cost. In this talk, I will give a brief overview of CMS and present the upgrades of the Baylor HCAL test stand during the summer of 2024.
