A1.00004: The International Linear Collider: The Next Great Particle Accelerator Invited Speaker: Barry Barish The International Linear Collider (ILC) has been designed to perform precision studies of the Higgs Boson and other new physics using electron-positron collisions in the energy regime being opened up by the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This 200-500 GeV (extendable to 1 TeV) center-of-mass energy, high luminosity, linear electron-positron collider will be based on 1.3 GHz superconducting radio-frequency (SCRF) accelerating technology. The technical and political status of the project will be presented. [Preview Abstract] |
