Sources of Noise in the Nab Experiment*

The Nab Spectrometer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks to yield a precise measurement of the electron-neutrino correlation parameter. The Nab Spectrometer’s purpose is to observe the products of Neutron beta decay and the time of flights of resultant protons and energies of resultant electrons. Some neutrons entering the spectrometer decay with a portion of their resultant charged particles directed vertically into large, pixelated silicon detectors. Background events from other sources must be identified and excluded from the final measurements. Some of these potential sources include but are not limited to effects from the detector bias and the ExB voltage for the magnetic filter. This talk will be concerned with characterizing the contributions of these said background sources.
