A Exploration of CDW Ordering in Vanadium Based Kagome Methals*

Kagome metals are widely studied for their capacity to host a variety of correlation-driven electronic states that arise from special features of their band structure. Recently, there has been great interest in vanadium based AV₃Sb₅ Kagome metals following the observation of charge-density wave (CDW) order and a new quantum state of chiral superconductivity. Similar behavior has also recently been discovered in another V based Kagome metal, ScV₆Sn₆ (166 series) even though the CDW order occurs by a different mechanism than the AV₃Sb₅ compounds. However, the other members of the 166 family do not exhibit a CDW order. We want to develop a larger picture than the existing literature surrounding the CDW and phonon-spin coupling in RV₆Sn₆ where R=Tb, Sc, and Y by investigating the structure-property relationships more comprehensively using broad band spectroscopic techniques at low temperatures and high magnetic fields. We will discuss the results of these experiments in detail.
