Professor James F. Sullivan died in October 2015 and was a retired faculty member of the Department of Physics at the University of Cincinnati. He had a long 42 year history of teaching Physics at the College of Applied Science (CAS) at the UC. He was Head of the Department of Mathematics and Physics at CAS from 2002 to 2010, and was one of the original leaders who formed the Southern Ohio Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (SOS-AAPT) in 1984. He held a number of leadership positions with SOS-AAPT since 1984, and organized at least five conferences held in Cincinnati, the last in 2013. Jim was named a fellow of the Ohio Academy of Science in 2000 and received the John B. Hart Award for Professional Service by SOS-AAPT in 2001. He collaborated with the Ohio-Region Section of the American Physical Society in planning joint conferences. He was highly respected and well-liked by all who knew him.
