The Forum on Physics and Society (FPS), addresses issues at the interface of physics and society. Some of these issues are climate change, energy, threats to the environment, space exploration, clean water, nuclear safety, and nuclear weapons. FPS members learn about these topics, present posters or talks about them at APS and other meetings, and become active in their communities solving problems like these, where physics can help.
The Forum on Diversity and Inclusion (FDI) engages members with the full range of identities, who want physics to be inclusive and welcoming to everyone with good ideas. FDI members care about the climate in physics and want to remove visible and invisible barriers to success in physics. FDI wants physics education and careers to be equitable to everyone: women, men, LGBTQ+; persons with disabilities; all racial, ethnic and cultural groups
A wonderful thing about Forums is that they are totally free to join: you just go into your APS member profile and click on the one(s) you want to join. And when you are a member, you have a voice deciding what topics the Forum will work on and organize sessions about. We invite you to join FPS and FDI!
