The ePIC hpDIRC Detector for the Electron-Ion Collider*

The high-performance DIRC (hpDIRC) detector for the ePIC experiment at the future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) has advanced from simulation-driven concept to component validation and integration testing. Its baseline design, optimized with Geant4 simulations and validated in test beams, employs a novel 3-layer spherical lens, small-pixel sensors, and fast readout, reusing BaBar DIRC radiator bars. Construction of a modular hpDIRC prototype is compled, with performance validation underway at the Cosmic Ray Telescope (CRT) facility at Stony Brook University. The experimental program includes validation of legacy DIRC components and a gradual replacement of interim hardware with ePIC-specific systems. The project remains on track for a full Technical Design Report (TDR) by late 2026. This talk will present the current hpDIRC development status, integration and reuse strategy for key optical elements, and preliminary CRT-based performance results.
