Radio Follow-up of a Low-threshold γ-Ray Transient in the Gravitational-wave Localization area of S241125n*

Since the Fermi satellite’s identification of a candidate γ-ray transient within the localization region of GW150914, there have been other tentative, and debated, associations of electromagnetic transients with gravitational wave signals from binary black hole (BBH) mergers. One such event was detected in the 04 run of the Advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO), S241125n, that was temporally coincident with a low-threshold γ-ray transient identified by Swift’s Burst Alert Telescope Gamma-ray Urgent Archiver for Novel Opportunities (BAT-GUANO). We present preliminary results of radio follow up observations of the BAT/GUANO localization area using the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA). Our observations, conducted at 3 GHz, constrain the radio afterglow of a potential jet launched in this event to energies less than ~ 10⁴⁹ ergs. We conclude by discussing implications for future follow ups of similar associations with the next generation VLA.
