G1.00001: Taking the Universe's Baby Picture Invited Speaker: David Spergel I will discuss how observations of the cosmic microwave background, the left-over heat from the big bang, have help establish the standard model of cosmology. I will look forward to upcoming observations that have the potential to test our ideas about the universe’s beginning and provide new insights into the nature of dark energy and dark matter.
