Topological semimetals across the correlation spectrum

Weyl semimetals have played a key role in the field of topological semimetals [1]. They can result if either inversion symmetry (IS) or time-reversal symmetry (TRS) is broken. In this talk, I will discuss recent developments in this field, spanning from IS broken ferromagnetic half Heusler compounds such as NiMnSb and PtMnSb [2,3] to IS broken but TRS preserving Weyl-Kondo semimetals such as Ce₃Bi₄Pd₃ [4,5]. The key feature of Weyl semimetals,  the nonlinear spontaneous (zero-field) Hall effect [6], will also be addressed, with focus on the role of strong correlations in enhancing this interesting and potentially application-relevant property [7].
