Realization of Chiral Wave Functions in Quantum Computer*

Chirality is a physical property that features asymmetry from its mirror image. In condensed matter systems, chiral fermions can appear as quantum Hall edge states, and it only propagate in a certain direction. As they cannot be localized, the external perturbations cannot destabilize the chiral fermions. In this work, we realize the chiral fermion by designing the discrete Hamiltonian using the current IBM quantum computer platform (IBM-Q). We measure the robust propagations of the wave functions even in the presence of strong disorder. Finally, to confirm the robustness of the chiral fermion, we compare our results with the conventional non-chiral model.
