Vibrational Fingerprints of Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP): An in-situ FTIR Study*

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), a fundamental player in a wide array of vital biological processes, holds immense significance for researchers in the realms of both basic and applied sciences. Here we use Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to characterize the spectra and molecular vibrations of ALP, and p-nitrophenyl phosphate (PNPP) into p-nitrophenol (PNP) while subjecting this process to varying ALP concentrations. We will discuss the role of  relevant vibrations throughout the chemical reaction and their evolution during the distinct stage of it. These findings offer new insights into the intricate molecular interactions of ALP and its functionality.
