Iron-chalcogenides with quasi-one-dimensional structures are the simplest platforms to study the evolution of magnetism, superconductivity, electronic correlations, and more exotic physics like mott behavior, charge density order, etc. In this study, we report the synthesis and physical properties of quasi-one-dimensional (Q-1D) iron chalcogenide Ba₂FeSe₃ which consists of corner-shared FeSe₄ tetrahedral units commonly seen in the iron chalcogenide superconductors. A high-quality polycrystalline sample was achieved by solid-state reaction methods and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and neutron powder diffraction (NPD) measurements. Ba₂FeSe₃ shows semiconducting behavior and orders antiferromagnetically at Neel temperature (T_N) ~ 60 K. The moment canting does not induce a net moment in any direction. Detailed results and implications of magnetic structure will be discussed.
