Single Crystals*

Materials where magnetism is coupled to the electronic structure and its topology provide opportunities to advance our fundamental understanding of correlated systems and offer routes to future technologies.  Yet our ability to reliably predict magnetic and electronic ground states remains limited,  and thus the need for new model systems remains strong.  This talk will examine the physical properties of Eu₂CuZn₂P₃, which is a natural heterostructure built from EuCuP and EuZn₂P₂ units.  These structural units are ternary compounds that are members of material families hosting topologically nontrivial electronic states.  This motivates our desire to understand the magnetic anisotropy in this system and how the onset of long-range magnetic order impacts the electrical transport properties.
