Conventional Superconductivity*

The last ten years have shown that high-pressure techniques are an incredibly powerful tool to shape the properties of materials, overcoming many of the

limitations imposed by chemistry and physics at ambient pressure. Phonon-mediated conventional superconductivity is one of the most striking examples [1,2].

In this talk I will review the most recent developments in the field, highlighting the main electronic structure trends behind the occurrence and absence of superconductivity, [3,4]

and the recent efforts towards the stabilisation of exotic high-Tc conventional superconductors down to near-ambient pressure.[5]
